Exploring Elements of Practice

  • our class made Rainbow Loom Bracelets.
  • Documentation & Reflection

    • Document: As a "Lead Learner"...
      • What specific shifts are you noticing in your own actions, priorities, language, questions, reflections and conversations that help shape the learning culture for which you strive?
    • Reflect: Documentation & Reflection
      • What's the relationship? What connections do you see between documentation & reflection in your own learning?
      • In student learning?
        • at what cost?
        • to what benefit?
    • Design 1-2 additional opportunities for students to engage in documentation and reflection of their own learning
      • please post a brief description of each opportunity
      • add 2-3 student work samples from each opportunity
      • be sure to note any tweaks, modifications or iterations

  • Document Unit
    • Winter Break
      • Over winter break our first grade students were asked to take a picture, and bring in a map of an experience. Each parent took a photo and emailed them.
      • Sresourceco15011409270_0002.jpgDaniel.jpegIMG_1223 (1).JPG
      • Next we shared all of the pictures and the students orally told about their experience
      • We then wrote a journal entry and attached the picture to their journal
      • Sresourceco15011409280_0001.jpg
      • Last I video taped them explaining their journal.
    • Weekend
      • Students were asked to write about one event over their weekend
      • Sresourceco15011409270_0001.jpgSresourceco15011409280_0002.jpg
    • Ice Skating
  • Spring Breatk Documentation
  • Kids took pictures of event during break... parent sent or emailed... then we wrote about an experience

  • Rainforest Unit

  • Rainforest - Ask the essential question...
  • Then kids came up with the questions they wanted to know and what info was important about each layer
  • They decided what layer they wanted to learn about
  • They did their own research individually, then the worked with their group to commulate their info.
  • Next the question about presentations came up. How do we share our info...
  • They came up with how they wanted to present
  • Last they worked in groups to present
  • Dale told me... that I should have been document every step with the kids... keep a journal about the process they went through...
  • The reflection piece comes at the end of each day...when they talk about their experience, they should write about what they did and what they want to do the next day.
  • Feedback

  • Self-Monitoring & Assessment

  • Reaching Out & Pulling In
